Digitalisation in HR – between progress and potential for development

How far has digitalisation actually progressed in human resources? Personal Manager magazine explores this question every year. The latest survey of HR managers, executives and managers from the DACH region paints a clear picture. Digitalisation is continuing to advance, but at different speeds in different areas.

Digitalisation has arrived – but has not yet reached its full potential
According to the latest survey, around 91.9% of the companies surveyed use HR software. Digital tools are particularly widespread in the areas of working time management, payroll accounting, application management and recruiting. Nevertheless, the figures also show that there is still room for improvement. The average degree of digitalisation in HR is currently 3.31 on a scale of 1 (‘very low’) to 5 (‘very high’) – a slight increase on the previous year, but still only an average value.

HR analytics – strategic potential often remains untapped
68.6% of respondents say they use HR metrics, but only 21.4% use this information strategically. Although data is available, it is often not incorporated into decision-making processes. Especially in times of increasing complexity in the world of work, this discrepancy represents untapped potential.

Satisfaction with existing systems – new solutions needed
At 60.8%, satisfaction with the HR software used is at a solid level. At the same time, it is clear that companies are increasingly looking for new digital solutions for onboarding and offboarding – processes that can be made not only more efficient but also significantly more transparent through digitalisation. The added value of such solutions is increasingly being recognised.
