9 A WARM WELCOME TO OUR HR MANAGER How did you come to work as HR Manager at ISGUS GmbH? I received the information via a personnel consultant that ISGUS GmbH was looking for a new head of its personnel department. I was already familiar with ISGUS through ZEUS®. As a personnel manager, I used to work with ZEUS® and was enthusiastic about the software. I have always found the possibilities offered by the system, especially the statistical evaluations and reports, to be a clear benefit for me. Additionally, the local proximity and the nationwide sales structure of ISGUS GmbH convinced me. What made you decide to work in the personnel department or to become a personnel manager? I first completed an apprenticeship as an industrial management assistant. Afterwards, I worked in the same company in financial accounting and work preparation. When the HR department was looking for support, I was assigned various administrative tasks and in a second step I became responsible for training support issues. Here I immediately realized that working in the HR department excited me. In my professional career, I was then able to gain experience in various companies as a personnel officer, team leader and finally as a personnel manager. What do you see as the biggest challenge in your job? For me, the biggest challenge is to connect individually with each staff member, focus- ing on his or her very personal situation. I want to provide the best possible quality of support, meet the needs of employees, and find a joint solution to any problems that may arise. Another challenge is the integration of the so-called “Generation Z”, the young professionals now increasingly entering the world of business. Are there any measures that you would like to introduce as the new HR Manager? I would like the HR department to be perceived not only as a service provider, but as a place where every employee is welcome at any time in the spirit of our open-door policy. With the active support of my HR team members, I would like to redefine and improve the existing HR processes in the area of recruitment and onboarding. Furthermore, communication and information transfer are very important to me. An initial step is to introduce new employees to the ISGUS family with photos in order to strengthen the personal relationship right from the beginning. In the area of personnel development and training, we would like to become more proactive meeting our employees’ wishes to a greater extent. How can we imagine your life apart from your work in HR? And how would you characterize yourself? In my leisure time, I spend a lot of time with my two children. Soccer is very much on my son‘s mind, while my daughter has awakened my enthusiasm for horses. I am also active in a men‘s singing club. As for my character, I would describe myself as authentic and direct. At the same time, I see myself as a calm, relaxed person who meets all employees as equals in a respectful way.
